iBasis Ranked As Number Six Rising Star Among North America's 500 Fastest-Growing Technology Companies

Deloitte & Touche's Fast 500 Rising Star Program Recognizes iBasis for 15,189% Three-Year Revenue Growth; National Award Follows Number One Ranking in New England

BURLINGTON, MA-November 16, 2000- iBasis, Inc., (Nasdaq: IBAS), the leader in advanced Internet-based communications, today announced that it has been ranked number six within Deloitte & Touche's nationwide Fast 500 Rising Star program. The Rising Star program ranks the country's fastest-growing technology companies based on three-year revenue growth. With revenue growth of 15,189% from 1997 to 1999, Deloitte & Touche ranked iBasis as the sixth fastest-growing technology company among all Rising Stars in the United States and Canada. In September 2000, iBasis was ranked by Deloitte & Touche as the number one Rising Star in New England.

More than 100 service providers route international voice and fax traffic over The iBasis Network, including 10 of the top 20 global carriers, 11 of the top 12 US-based international carriers, four of the five largest carriers in China and more than 14 European providers. To qualify as a Deloitte & Touche Fast 500 Rising Star, a company must be headquartered in the U.S. or Canada, have been in business a minimum of three years, with 1997 operating revenue of at least $50,000 and 1999 operating revenue of at least $1 million. It must be a technology company, defined as one that develops proprietary technology which contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues; manufactures a technology-related product; devotes a high percentage of effort to research and development of technology or uses proprietary technology to significantly improve the delivery of technology services.
