Leading Colombian Carrier Selects iBasis for Global Service
Orbitel Connects to The iBasis Network; Interconnection Extends iBasis VoIP Leadership, Network Footprint in South America

(Nasdaq: IBAS), the leader in Internet-based voice communications, today announced that Orbitel, a leading carrier in Colombia, is interconnecting with The iBasis NetworkTM for global service. Orbitel's interconnection to iBasis will enable Orbitel to route international voice traffic over The iBasis Network and allow iBasis to expand its service to Colombia using Orbitel's extensive domestic network. Colombia is one of the largest telecommunications markets in South America and is the third-largest Latin American calling destination from the U.S.1
Orbitel can route its international voice traffic over The iBasis Network through an iBasis Internet Branch Office (IBO) facility, enabling an efficient, low cost, high quality IP-to-IP interconnection. An iBasis IBO comprises VoIP gateways and related interconnection equipment from Cisco Systems. By providing Tier One quality international service to more than 150 carriers, iBasis has become one of the world's 15 largest carriers of international traffic2 and was recently ranked by global service providers as the world's #1 international wholesale carrier3.
