Carriers Rank iBasis Best International Wholesale Carrier for Third Consecutive Year in Annual ATLANTIC-ACM Study
Independent Ratings of Major Wholesale Carriers Place VoIP Leader Ahead of AT&T, MCI, Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom, Primus and ITXC
BURLINGTON, MA May 4, 2004 - - iBasis, Inc. (OTCBB: IBAS), the leader in Internet-based voice communications, today announced that it has been ranked by carriers as the world's best international wholesale carrier for the third year in a row in the 2004 International Wholesale Report Card, the acknowledged industry reference survey published annually by independent telecommunications research and advisory firm ATLANTIC-ACM.
The 2004 International Wholesale Report Card ranked the world's leading international wholesale carriers based on the opinions of carriers who use them. Respondents to the survey represented carriers that on average spent more than $165 million annually on wholesale traffic. The study compiled individual ratings for customer service, provisioning, network quality, pricing, products, and billing across many of the world's largest carriers, including AT&T, Cable & Wireless, COLT, France Telecom, MCI, Primus, Singapore Telecom, Sprint, and VoIP providers iBasis and ITXC. iBasis was ranked #1 overall and in three of the six categories in the study - Billing, Provisioning, and Customer Service.
"This marks the eighth year of our traditional wholesale telecommunications survey and the third year of the International Wholesale Report Card," said Dr. Judy Reed Smith, CEO of ATLANTIC-ACM. "The results of our international study reinforce iBasis' well-established position in the international market. Industry respondents show special admiration for iBasis' back office systems that deliver clear, accurate, and timely billing, as well as the company's efficient provisioning and responsive customer service."
"To retain the top ranking overall for three consecutive years is a tremendous accomplishment, in which all iBasis employees can take great pride," said Ofer Gneezy, president and CEO of iBasis. "This reaffirms the value of the effort we put into continuous improvement of our operations, from call completion to automated rating to bill presentment to customer service. Today, more than a third of all international traffic is carried by wholesale providers like iBasis. Our ability to manage the complexity of these back office functions better than any other wholesale carrier is a major reason why we continue to expand our share of the wholesale market while others struggle."
