iBasis CEO to Discuss Company's Growing Presence in Retail VoIP Services at Wall Street Analyst Forum

Rapid Growth of Retail Prepaid Calling Cards, Interconnection with Skype, and Plans for eCommerce Business Move Company Closer to Consumers

BURLINGTON, MA— August 2, 2004 — iBasis, Inc. (OTCBB: IBAS), a leader in international long distance, VoIP, and prepaid calling cards, today announced that company President and CEO Ofer Gneezy will discuss the Company's rapid expansion in retail communications services as well as its continued growth in wholesale Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). Mr. Gneezy's presentation will take place at the Wall Street Analyst Forum in New York on Tuesday, August 3, 2004.

In his remarks, Mr. Gneezy plans to highlight the Company's growing retail business, including its prepaid calling card business and its plans for future eCommerce-based services. In addition, Mr. Gneezy will discuss the trends in international telecommunications that are driving substantial growth opportunities for the Company's wholesale Internet telephony business. Specifically, Mr. Gneezy will address AT&T's abandonment of the consumer market, the migration of voice traffic from large international carriers to local exchange carriers (LECs) and mobile operators, and the continued shift from traditional TDM service to VoIP, exemplified by recent launches of retail VoIP services from providers as diverse as Verizon and Skype.
