iBasis Names Ajay Joseph Chief Technology Officer

Industry Veteran Assumes Overall Responsibility for Technical Direction of Company's Internet Telephony infrastructure

BURLINGTON, Massachusetts - February 25, 2008 - iBasis (NASDAQ: IBAS), a KPN affiliate, today announced that Ajay Joseph has been promoted to Chief Technology Officer. Joseph is responsible for the technical strategy, innovation, and engineering of iBasis' global telecommunications network and supporting systems. iBasis is one of the three largest carriers of international voice traffic and operates the most extensive international VoIP network in the world. The company is also a leading provider of prepaid calling services and mobile data services for mobile operators. iBasis' solutions allow customers, which include many of the world's best-known carriers, to reduce their cost of transporting and delivering international phone calls, while providing service quality indistinguishable from that of traditional phone networks.

Joseph joined iBasis in 1999 and has been vice president of network architecture. During his tenure at iBasis, he has lead development of the company's switchless global IP network and related systems. Joseph has also been instrumental in developing the company's proprietary Assured Quality Routing (AQR) and Path Engine routing technologies, which have been critical to iBasis' ability to serve all segments of the telecommunications market and become one of the largest international voice carriers in the world. iBasis carried more than six billion minutes of international voice traffic in Q4 2007.

Prior to joining iBasis, Joseph led the architecture of the IP Telecom division at GTE Internetworking, responsible for new VoIP-based services. He also held senior level engineering and design positions at DeskNet Systems and NYNEX Science & Technology.

Joseph is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program of Harvard Business School. He holds Professional Engineering and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University.
