With more than 800 points of presence, The
iBasis Network spans more than 90 countries and interconnects
more than 180 service providers worldwide, including all of the U.S.-based Tier One international carriers and many of the top global carriers. Since beginning the deployment of its Cisco Powered Network in 1997, the company has accumulated hundreds of man-years of experience working with Cisco equipment and engineers and with the world's largest and most demanding carriers to deliver high quality voice traffic over the public Internet.
In 2002 iBasis completed a major upgrade of the network, implementing a new switchless architecture that enhances voice quality while reducing the cost of network expansion and operation. iBasis also deployed a new version of its patent-pending quality monitoring and management software, Assured Quality Routing (AQR).
Network Operations
Centers (NOCs), located in Burlington, Massachusetts,
USA and Hong Kong, provide dynamic monitoring and customer service 24x7x365. iBasis NOC engineers monitor and
manage both the global circuit-switched (PSTN) and
packet-switched (IP) networks to ensure the highest quality and rapid resolution of any problems that arise.
iBasis also provides enhanced network services such as IP CallCard, a hosted billing platform for pre- and post-paid calling card providers,
and ConnectPoint Global Access services.
For two consecutive years (2002 & 2003) iBasis was ranked by carriers as the best international wholesale carrier in the International Wholesale Carrier Report Card survey conducted by the independent telecom analyst and advisory firm Atlantic-ACM. In that survey of leading international carriers, iBasis was ranked #1 in four of the six categories: provisioning, pricing, billing, and customer service. The company was named the fastest growing technology company in New England for three consecutive years and the eigth-fastest growing technology company in the U.S. in 2002 in the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500 program.
